Faslane 365, Trident Ploughshares, Faslane Peace Camp and Scottish CND calls on all individuals and groups in Scotland to arrive at the North Gate of Faslane Naval Base at 8a.m. Wednesday 14th March for a protest against the present Trident system and against any replacement.

A Short History of Faslane Peace Camp

The peace camp then became a rite of passage for a new generation of politicians. While George Galloway and Tommy Sheridan remained true to their CND roots and considered any visit to Faslane which did not end with their arrest...a disappointment, others such as the First Minister Jack McConnell, who once marched with a banner which read: "Trident is Immoral" decided that, actually, it isn't.

Anti-Trident Demonstrators Arrested at Faslane, Scottish Parliament and Parliament Square.

Individuals and groups from across the country today denounced Trident as illegal and immoral and called for disarmament of Britain’s weapons of mass destruction in concurrent demonstrations at Faslane Naval Base, Scottish Parliament and Parliament Square. Four people were arrested after blocking the entrance to Faslane, where Trident nuclear weapons are based, while five were arrested after unfurling a banner which read “Whatever They Vote Trident is Still Wrong” on the Scottish Parliament building, and ten people have blockaded Parliament Square.

Campaigners in Trident protests

Demonstrators climbed onto the roof of the Scottish Parliament as part of their protest over the crucial Trident vote in the House of Commons.
Five protesters were arrested at Holyrood and another four were detained at the Faslane naval base after they tried to block the entrance.

Hundreds voice their opposition to missile plan across country

ANTI-nuclear protesters gathered in Westminster last night in an eleventh-hour demonstration against replacing the Trident missile system.
Several hundred people stood opposite Parliament as MPs voted on ordering a new generation of weapons.The demonstration followed a day of anti-Trident protests to vent anger against the Government.
