Three OAPs were arrested today at the Pensioner’s for Peace Valentine’s Day demonstration at Faslane naval base in protest against government plans to upgrade the Trident nuclear missile system.

Author and broadcaster Jimmy Reid is set to join a group of fellow pensioners at a blockade of Faslane naval base on the 14th February in a protest against government plans to replace the Trident nuclear missile system.

As the one o clock fired at 1.00pm today Harry McEachan, (from Largs) was arrested while distributing flyers from the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade. OBE (Over bloody eighty) Harry is a believer in peace and love, and wants other pensioners to join him at Faslane on 14th February (that's right, St Valentines day) which will be part of the Faslane 365 blockade. As the one o clock fired at 1.00pm today Harry was arrested while distributing flyers over the ramparts of Edinburgh Castle to promote his proposed 'No to Trident Pensioners Love in for Peace'

In March this year Parliament will vote to decide whether to continue the nuclear weapons system. This decision, once taken, will commit Britain to another 30 or 40 years of nuclear weapons at a cost of between £20 - 70 billion.
