Seize the Day, 9-10 October 2006

my funniest moment was when I told the young WPC in our arrest minibus that it had been a long time since I had spent a night apart from my wife. She replied 'I hope she is understanding' and I exclaimed 'I think so, she's on the other minibus'

The "Seize The Day" blockade succeeded in effectively preventing the morning shift from working for two and a half hours at the Faslane sub-base on Monday 9th October. Over the 9th and 10th we had 7 blockade attempts and 19 arrests (but no charges). It was an inspiring and empowering experience which makes us want to return later in the year and encourage all our friends to do the same.

"Seize The Day" are a campaigning UK acoustic band who mainly recruited blockaders at gigs this summer. We ended up with around 80 volunteers, many of whom had never taken part in Direct Action before. On Sunday 8th October we met up in Glasgow to plan our action, and on Monday we went to Faslane, where we had "lock-ons" on both the South gate and the North Gate, creating a 4 mile tailback.
