York's Blockade Reports

A twelve strong group from York dressed as Vikings has successfully blockaded both entrances to the Faslane nuclear submarine base.

The base is subject to a year long campaign rejecting nuclear weapons and the replacement of Trident in particular. This has attracted international support. Spanish protesters sang, danced and shouted encouragement to York's Vikings as four men and eight women were arrested in the peaceful protest. The co-ordinated action completely closed the base for half an hour.
