Lock-on tubes were plastic piping wrapped in chicken wire and rubber, placed in a cardboard mould (lined with heavy gauge plastic and bound with gaffer tape to prevent it disintegrating) before being infilled with concrete.

Surprise blockade established rapidly at 6.55 am. Police looked a bit taken aback, and complained that as this had not been announced in the calendar - 'this may change the ground rules'! Though, as yet we still haven't received our printed copy of the 'ground rules' from the police...
