Stop the next generation of nuclear weapons

Blockade Aldermaston Monday 12 February

Come and say no to the next generation of nuclear weapons at AWE Aldermaston on 12 February.
The government is likely to push a vote on the plans outlined in December's White Paper - on the replacement of Trident - a month later, during the week of 12 March.
Show your opposition now.
There is a real need to show opposition to this policy commitment to British weapons of mass destruction - and to do so now and in very practical and visible ways.
If the vote goes in favour of the government's plans, then it will be an uphill battle for the next 10 years, so now is the time to exert pressure and influence the debate.

This means not just taking action, but letting people know - local groups, local media etc - and in this case at least, (while it may be counter-intuitive to a lot of people), your local MPs as they will actually be doing the voting come March.

Previously at AWE...
In November 400 people descended on Aldermaston to show their opposition to Trident replacement and the construction of new facilities at AWE Aldermaston. While work at the base was disrupted for several hours, due to the number of people involved only one person was arrested. The bigger presence we have the lower the risks are.
The December blockade stopped traffic for 2 hours with just a dozen people, a concrete-filled wheelie bin, and other lock-ons.
And action this week at AWE by Scottish activists saw traffic prevented from entering the base for four hours - concrete lorries attempting to enter the base for work on the Orion laser construction site were turned away.

Join the next publicly announced blockade of AWE on Monday 12 February.
Non-arrestables are welcome, to others we say, "Come prepared".

Accommodation available the night before the blockade. Legal support team on the day. See www.blockthebuilders.org.uk for further details.
